The present criminal writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking issuance of appropriate directions to respondent Nos. 2 and 3 to protect the life and personal liberty of the petitioner; to direct respondent Nos. 4 to 9 not to interfere with the petitioner's life and personal liberty; and to restrain respondent Nos. 2 and 3

from permitting respondent Nos. 4 to 9, or any other person, to interfere with the petitioner's liberty or harass the petitioner in any manner against the petitioner's wishes or otherwise cause any detriment to the petitioner. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner, inter alia, contends that the petitioner is a major and is competent to make decisions concerning her life. The petitioner is in a relationship with one Gurdeep Singh and intends to marry him. Gurdeep Singh is also a major and is presently residing in Dubai for earning his livelihood. He is likely to return to India after approximately two months. It is further submitted that the private respondents are opposed to the petitioner's relationship with Gurdeep Singh and are attempting to forcibly solemnize her marriage with another person, against her wishes. 2.1.

It is further submitted that the petitioner made a representation dated 17.06.2026 before the jurisdictional police authorities; however, no action has been taken thereon and the same is still pending. Learned counsel for the petitioner, at this stage, submits that he would be satisfied if a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to consider and decide the representation dated 17.06.2026 (Annexure P-3). 3.

Notice of motion restricted to official respondents only.

Mr. Bhanu Pratap Singh, Addl. AG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents and submits that he has no objection in the event a direction is issued to respondent No.2/competent authority to consider and decide the representation dated 17.06.2026 (Annexure P-3). 5.

In view of the above, without commenting upon the merits of the case, the present petition is disposed of and the respondent No.2/competent authority is directed to decide the representation dated 17.06.2026 (Annexure P-3).
