The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing official respondents to protect the life and liberty of petitioners at the hands of private respondents.

Learned counsel for the petitioners, inter alia, contends that the petitioners are major and claimed to have been residing with each other in live-in relationship and they seek protection to their life and liberty as the apprehend danger to their lives at the hands of private respondents. CRWP-7477-2026 counsel for the petitioners further submits that the representation submitted by the petitioners before the jurisdictional police authorities is pending consideration and has not been decided till date. 3.
Notice of motion to the official respondents only. 4.
Learned Additional Advocate General who is present in Court, accepts notice for the official respondents. Learned counsel for the petitioners is directed to supply a copy of complete paper book to learned State counsel during course of the day.

Without commenting on validity of the relationship of the petitioners and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of this petition with direction to concerned Senior Superintendent of Police to decide representation of the petitioners within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
