Learned counsel for the petitioner has contended that the deceased, who was the brother-in-law of the petitioner, had died on 07.01.2016 and the FIR was not registered till 10.03.2019. The FIR, which has been registered against the wife of the deceased, is still at the investigation stage and the sole accused therein i.e Jagjit Kaur-respondent No.4 has till date not been arrested.

On the asking of the Court, Ms. Bhavna Gupta, DAG, Punjab has put in appearance on behalf of the State through video conferencing and accepts notice. She, on instructions from ASI Parshotam Lal, has stated that the proclaimed offender proceedings have already been initiated against Jagjit Kaur-respondent No.4 and the same are going on. In view of the statement made by learned State counsel, the learned counsel for the petitioner does not wish to press the present petition. The petition is hence dismissed as not pressed.
