Versus
State of Punjab and others
...Respondents
CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE AMAN CHAUDHARY ***** Present :
Mr. Sanjay Verma, Advocate for the petitioners. Mr. Charanpreet Singh, AAG, Punjab.
***** AMAN CHAUDHARY, J. (Oral) 1.
Prayer made in the present petition is for directing the respondent Nos.1 to 4 to appointment petitioner No.2 on compassionate ground.
2.
Learned counsel submits that the husband of petitioner No.1, who was working as ASI, has unfortunately passed away on 30.01.2025 due to brain hemorrhage. Thereafter, a request dated 18.03.2025, Annexure P-4 was submitted by petitioner No.1 to appoint petitioner No.2 as a Constable in terms of the policy dated 21.11.2002, Annexure P-3, which has yet not evoked any response. He, on instructions, prays that a direction may be given to the respondents to decide the same in a time bound manner, to which learned State counsel has no objection. 3.
In view of the above and without commenting upon the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to the respondents to decide the application dated 18.03.2025, Annexure P-4, within a period of 6 months, which this Court has no reason to believe the authorities would not address in a just, fair and reasonable manner. Upon doing so, after notice and hearing offered to them and if found entitled, grant the benefit forthwith. Needless to say, if the orders are adverse to their interest, the same shall contain reasons and the petitioners shall be free to seek legal redress thereupon.
