**** HARNARESH SINGH GILL , J. (ORAL) Case is taken up for hearing through video conferencing. The petitioner seeks regular bail in FIR No. 16 dated 28.1.2019 under Sections 302 and 34 IPC registered at Police Station Tibba, District Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that neither the petitioner has been named in the FIR nor any injury has been attributed to him. Rather, the petitioner has been named by the complainant, in the supplementary statement after two days and he has been in custody since 29.1.2019. He further submits that co-accused Jaswant Singh has been granted regular bail by this Court vide order dated 18.9.2020. On the other hand, learned State counsel submits that in the supplementary statement, the petitioner has been specifically named by the complainant. CRM-M No. 42723 of 2020 -2The petitioner has been in custody since 29.1.2019. Charges have been framed but no witness have been examined so far. The trial will take time to conclude because of COVID-19 pandemic. No useful purpose would be served by keeping the petitioner behind the bars. Without commenting anything on the merits of the case, the petition is allowed and the petitioner is ordered to be released on bail on his furnishing bail/surety bonds to the satisfaction of the trial Court/Duty Magistrate.
