Mr. Kunwarbir Singh, AAG Punjab **** SHALINI SINGH NAGPAL J. (Oral) The petition under Article 226 of Constitution of India seeks a direction to respondents No. 2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of petitioners from respondent No. 4.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that son of petitioners No. 1 and 2 and daughter of respondent No. 4 had gone missing. Respondent No. 4 filed a complaint, on the basis of which, an FIR was registered by the police. Petitioners, who had no role in the elopement of daughter of respondent No. 4, were being harassed unnecessarily. A representation (Annexure P-1) was moved before respondent No. 2- Senior Superintendent of Police, District Sangrur for protection of life and liberty of the petitioners but no action was taken thereupon. It is urged that petitioners would be satisfied if appropriate direction is issued to respondent No. 2- Senior Superintendent of Police, District Sangrur to consider and decide representation dated 23.06.2026 (Annexure P-1) moved by petitioners and take necessary action thereupon in a time bound manner.

Keeping in view the limited prayer made by petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No. 2Senior Superintendent of Police, District Sangrur, to decide the aforesaid representation dated 23.06.2026 (Annexure P-1) submitted by petitioners within a period of 15 days from today by passing a reasoned and speaking order in accordance with law and take necessary action, if so required. However, if, respondent No.2 does not find any substance in the allegations levelled in the representation (Annexure P-1), the petitioners shall be informed as per mandate of law.
