(Oral) The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution n of India for issuance of a w writ in the nature of mandamus directing the e official respondents No. 1 to 3 to protect the life and liberty of f the petitione ers, who are in a live-in relations ship and they fear threat for their r life and libe erty at the hands of private respon ndents No. 4 to 8.

The petitioners are major as i s evident from their documents Annexure P P-1 and P-2 and as such they a are at liberty to lead their lives according to o their volition and the private r respondents No.4 to 08 have no o right to inte rfere therein. However, it is per rtinent to mention that petitioner r No. 1 is a married woman and is already involved in litigation with her r spouse.

The present petition is being c considered only for the purpose of protection n of life and liberty of the petitio oners and the filing, pendency or r the orders p passed by this Court in this petiti ion shall neither be construed as any stamp o of the Court qua the live-in rel lationship of the petitioners nor r shall be reli ied upon by any authority in an ny proceedings initiated against t the petitione ers under any other provision of law, hence, there is no necessity y to serve the private respondent(s) or to seek a reply from them.

In view of the above, the p petition is disposed of with a a direction t to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, , Ferozepur, to take into consideration the request of the petitioners made vide represe entation dated 27.06.2026 (Anne exure P-3) and take appropriate action, in ac ccordance with law and in term ms of the guidelines/SOPs issued d vide judgm ment passed by a Coordinate B Bench of this Court in CRWP- - 12562-2023 3 dated 14.06.2024.

It is made clear to the petition ners that, in case, any averments made in t this petition or in the rep presentation dated 27.06.2026 (Annexure P-3) are found to be inco orrect, the State authorities are directed to t take appropriate action, in accord dance with law.

However, since this petition i is being disposed of in limine, , therefore, co opy of the complete paper book k be sent through registered post t to responden nt No.4 - husband of petitioner N No.1.

Although, the State is duty bound to protect its citizens, , however, in n case, there is any criminal reco ord of the petitioners, the present t
-3order shall not be an alibi or an impedim ment against the authorities to o proceed in accordance with law and the a above order is subject to cross verification of the antecedents of the petition ners. Furthermore, it will be the responsibilit ty of the concerned SHO to verify the original documents demonstratin ng the correct age and residen ntial address of the petitioners before cons sidering their representation af fter getting the same counter- - checked by the private respondents.
