On 01.07.2026, while issuing notice, this Court passed the following order:- "Learned counsel for the petitioner, inter alia contends that the results of the newly elected body for the Municipal Council, Gurdaspur have been declared on 13.06.2026, but in violation of Rule 3 of the Punjab Municipal (President and Vice-President) Election Rules, 1994, no meeting has been convened by the Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur for administering oath of allegiance to all the elected members and/or election of the President and Vice President(s).

Notice of motion.

Mr. Jastej Singh, Addl. A.G., Punjab, accepts the notice on behalf of the respondents and prays for time to seek instructions. Adjourned to 02.07.2026.

Mr. Jastej Singh, submits that he has express instructions to state before this Court that within two weeks from today meeting of the JYOTI SHARMA 2026.07.03 12:13 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document chandigarh

CWP-19557-2026 -2newly elected members of the Municipal Council, Gurdaspur shall be convened for administering oath of allegiance to the newly elected members and for conducting the elections to the posts of President and Vice President(s). He further states that to ensure, fairness and transparency, videography of the entire process shall be done and the recording thereof shall be preserved for a period of two months under the care and custody of Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur.
