The petitioner through instant petition under Article 226 read with Article 227 of Constitution of India is seeking directions to respondents No.1 and 2 to issue passport.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that the petitioner was issued passport on 15.12.2021 after verifying antecedents of the petitioner. The passport of the petitioner got misplaced, thus, the petitioner applied for re-issuance of passport. The respondent declined request of the petitioner on the ground that there is adverse police report. 3.

The petitioner has been implicated in two criminal cases, however, police has not filed challan in none of the case. In one case, the petitioner has been found innocent, thus, petitioner is entitled to passport. ANJU GOEL 2023.08.22 17:55 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Mr. Deepanjay Sharma, DAG, Punjab, submits that police would submit fresh verification report clarifying status of pending FIR against the petitioner within two weeks from today. 5.

Mr. Himanshu Malik, Advocate for respondents No.1 and 2 submits that passport authority on receipt of police verification report and taking into account judgment of this Court in Mohan Lal @ Mohna vs. Union of India and others, CWP No. 27167 of 2018 disposed of vide judgment dated 14.07.2023 would pass an appropriate order within 06 weeks from the date of receipt of police verification report. 6.
