This is the petitioner's second attempt to get bail during the pendency of the trial of a criminal case arising from FIR No. 151 dated 22.06.2020, registered under Section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, at Police Station Tanda, District Hoshiarpur.

As per the case of the prosecution, 10 quintals of poppy husk was recovered packed in 40 bags placed underneath the 50 bags of garlic loaded in the truck.

After arguing for some time, the learned counsel representing the petitioner submits that the directions be issued to the trial Court to expedite the trial of the case. He submits that the petitioner is in custody for a period of more than 21⁄2 years. The learned State counsel has no objection thereto.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, the Special Court is directed to make sincere endeavours for expeditious conclusion of the trial, preferably within a period of next nine months, positively. 5.
