Through this petition the petitioners seek issuance of directions to the State Election Commission, Punjab and other official respondents to ensure that free and fair elections take place to the Municipal Council Guru Harsahai, District Ferozepur which elections are scheduled to be held on 05.07.2026.

At the outset, Mr. Jastej Singh, Addl. Advocate General, Punjab denies the apprehensions expressed on the petitioner's behalf but states that to ensure fairness and transparency in the elections to the Municipal Council Guru Harsahai, District Ferozepur, the Deputy Commissioner, District Ferozepur shall get videography done, both outside and inside the venue where voting is to take place; place CCTV cameras for 24 hours outside and inside the strong room where the ballot boxes are stored; counting of votes shall also be videographed and that if so required, adequate police force shall also be deployed.
