RAJESH BHARDWAJ, J.(ORAL) Present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of direction to official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner from the hands of private respondents, who are daughter-in-law and other family members of petitioner, and who are continuously harassing and threatening the petitioner and his wife through respondent No.4 who is SHO of local police station and also friend of respondent No.8, who instead of taking action on the complaint, Annexure P-1, filed by petitioner against the private respondents, is calling him to the police station time and again and the petitioner being a senior citizen aged 75 years is facing unnecessary harassment without any rhyme and reason.

It is submitted that for redressal of his grievances, the petitioner has already filed a complaint and representation, Annexures P-1 and P-2, MEENU 2024.08.22 10:07 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRWP-7967-2024 -2however, no action has been taken on the same till date. Notice of motion to respondents/State only.

On asking of the Court, Mr.Tarun Aggarwal, Sr.DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents/State. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with a direction to respondent No.3-Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, District Amritsar, to look into the representation, dated 24.06.2024, Annexure P-2, of the petitioner and decide the same expeditiously preferably within one month from today and grant him protection, if any threat to his life and liberty is perceived. It is clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioner from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by him.
