(ORAL) By filing the present petition, the petitioner - Mohammad Saleem @ Deema, is seeking quashing of the order dated 17.04.2020 (Annexure P-1) passed by respondent No. 2 (Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur), whereby his case for grant of parole has been declined; and also to issue directions to the respondents to release him on parole for six weeks in order to look after his old ailing mother and brother, who is suffering from Tuberculosis, in accordance with his entitlement under Section 3 (1) (a) & (d) of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 1962.

The petitioner stands convicted and inter alia sentenced to twenty (20) years of imprisonment in case FIR No.71 dated 05.05.2016 registered under Sections 452, 323, 365, 376-D, 506 IPC at Police Station City-I, Malerkotla, District Sangrur, vide order dated 10.07.2017 passed by the learned Sessions Judge, Sangrur. C.R.W.P. No. 10846 of 2020 (O&M) -210.07.2017, an appeal, preferred by the petitioner, stands admitted by this Court.

After arguing for some time and having failed to convince the Court, counsel for the petitioner prays for permission to withdraw the present petition.
