(ORAL) The petitioner is seeking regular bail in FIR No. 221 dated 9.12.2018 under Sections 323, 324, 341, 506, 148, 149 IPC (Section 308 IPC added later on) registered at Police Station Haibowal, Ludhiana. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that as per the FIR, the petitioner has been attributed baseball bat injury on the back of the complainant and he has been in custody since 23.12.2018. Learned State counsel, on instructions from ASI Bajjan Singh, submits that out of 12 prosecution witnesses, 03 witnesses have been examined and the next date before the trial Court is fixed for 17.2.2020. The petitioner has been in custody since 23.12.2018. Out of 12 prosecution witnesses, only 03 witnesses have been examined. The trial will take time to conclude. No useful purpose would be served by keeping the petitioner behind the bars.
