****         Learned Advocate General appearing on behalf of the respondent-State of Punjab, on instructions from Mr. G.S.Khaira, IAS, Director, Department of Rural Development & Panchayat, Punjab, submits that the respondent-State of Punjab has decided to withdraw the impugned notification dated 10.08.2023 (Annexure P-1) and it will be withdrawn preferably within a period of two days. He further submits that the Government of Punjab intends to ensure that the democratic process as prescribed by the Constitution is not stalled on any ground and it proposes to continue with the process of holding the elections of Panchayats in accordance with law inspite of withdrawal of the impugned notification (Annexure P-1) issued under Section 29-A of the Punjab Panchayati Raj RAVINDER KUMAR 2023.09.01 15:01 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment.

He further submits that in view of withdrawal of the impugned notification, all the legal consequences would ensue in accordance with law. In view of the statement made by the learned Advocate General, Punjab, nothing further survives for adjudication in the petition and taking the same on record, the petition stands disposed of. As the petition has been disposed of on the statement made by learned Advocate General, Punjab to the effect that the impugned notification has been withdrawn, this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the issues, which are kept open for adjudication in an appropriate case.
