SANDEEP MOUDGIL, J (ORAL) The jurisdiction of this Court has been invoked under Article 226 of the Constitution praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing respondent Nos.2 & 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondent Nos.4 to 10.
Learned State Counsel has submitted that a speaking order has already been passed on 15.07.2025 on the complaint of the petitioners by the authorities concerned and has produced the copy of the same, which is taken on record. He has furnished a copy of the order to counsel for the petitioners. The relevant part of the speaking order is reproduced below :- "xxxx xxxxxx During the course of the inquiry, ASI Balvir Singh, Police Station Model Town, Hoshiarpur, recorded the statement of petitioner Gagandeep Kaur and Gurdit Singh. Both stated that: One the Day of marriage, initially, their family members were against their marriage, but now there are no objections. She and her husband are not in any kind of danger, and she does not require any security. She requests that the petition be closed.
Considering these developments and the statements recorded, no further action is deemed necessary. Accordingly, the petition is ordered to be filed in the MANOJ KUMAR 2025.07.17 21:45 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order record room. A copy of this speaking order is being
CRWP-7508-2025 provided to the complainants free of cost. They have been informed that they retain the right to appeal against this order within three days from the receipt of the order to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Crime against Women Cell."
In light of the above, counsel for the petitioners does not wish to press this petition further. The petitioners would be at liberty to file appeal, as is stipulated in the Standard Operating Procedure, in the light of notification No. HOMEHM-40 40SECM/14/2025-2H4/63 dated 23.01.2025 issued by the Department of Home Affairs, Punjab, Government of Punjab (Home-4 Branch), in case of any grievance left.
Petition stands dismissed as not pressed.
