RAJESH BHARDWAJ, J.(ORAL) Instant writ petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents to pay the financial assistance/honorarium allowances to the petitioners, who are the elected Sarpanch of various villages of Block Kapurthala of terms 2018 to 2023 from the period they are elected as Sarpanch, till date alongwith interest. It is further prayed to issue direction in favour of the petitioners in view of the notification, Annexure P-1, issued by the State of Punjab in favour of the elected Sarpanch and Panches and the claim of the petitioners may be decided in the light of judgments passed by this Court in CWP-28253-2017 and CWP-7086-2020, Annexures P-3 and P-4, respectively.

It has been contended by the counsel for the petitioners that the petitioners have already filed representation, dated 13.08.2023, Annexure P2, but no decision has been taken on the same till date. Notice of motion.

After hearing the counsel for the parties and going through the facts and circumstances of the case, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2, i.e. Director Panchayat, Rural and Development, Mohali, to decide the representation, dated 13.08.2023, Annexure P2 expeditiously in accordance with law preferably within one month from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
