The fact remains that the appellant has to pay more than `2 lacs towards arrears of maintenance as fixed by this Court in the petition moved by the respondent under Section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.

In fact, on 26.4.2016 we gave final opportunity to the appellant to pay the entire arrears of maintenance, failing which it was made clear during the hearing that the appeal would be dismissed in default.

Counsel for the appellant submits that the appellant has not responded positively to make the payment of the arrears of maintenance.
