Mr. Kushagra Mahajan *** HARSH BUNGER, J. (Oral) The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India inter alia seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing respondent No.3 to reissue the passport to the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was arrayed as an accused in case FIR No.28, dated 27.02.2017, under Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, Sections 24, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act and Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, registered at Police Station Ajnala, District Amritsar. Learned counsel further submits that in the said FIR, the petitioner has not been challaned. 3.

On advance service of copy of petition, Mr. Ashutosh Dhankar, Advocate, appears on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3-Union of India. 4.

CWP-19918-2025 (O&M) - - clarifications were required from the petitioner and he was called upon to submit his explanation vide letter dated 05.06.2025 (Annexure P-2), however, he has not responded to the same.

On the other hand, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that letter dated 05.06.2025 (Annexure P-2) has been duly responded by the petitioner vide letter dated 25.06.2025 (Annexure P-3). 6.

Learned counsel for respondents No.1 to 3, in view of the submissions made by learned counsel for the petitioner, submits that the petitioner may appear before the Regional Passport Officer, Amritsar on 29.07.2025 at 11:00 A.M. and answer all the clarifications and also provide the documents as may be sought from him. He further submits that in case, all the requisite information/clarification/documents are provided by the petitioner, then the application seeking re-issuance of the passport, submitted by the petitioner, would be processed by the concerned passport authorities within a period of four weeks from the date when such information/clarification/documents are supplied by the petitioner. 7.

In view of the aforesaid stand taken by learned counsel appearing for respondents No.1 to 3, the instant petition stands disposed of accordingly.
