**** HARSIMRAN SINGH SETHI , J. (ORAL) In the present writ petition, the claim of the petitioners is that they are entitled for interest on the delayed release of the pensionary benefits.

As per the averments made in the present writ petition, petitioners are retired employees of the Punjabi University, who have superannuted from service starting from the year 2013 onwards. The claim in the present writ petition is that the pensionary benefits of the petitioners were released much after their date of retirement. The said benefits were withheld by the respondents without any valid justification and as per the settled principle of law settled by a Full Bench of this NARESH KUMAR 2019.02.08 12:44 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

CWP-8914-2018 -2Court in A.S. Randhawa Vs. State of Punjab and others, 1997(3) SCT 468, the petitioners are entitled for interest on the delayed release of the payment.

Counsel for the parties agree that the similar writ petitions bearing CWP No.17107 of 2015 and other connected cases were decided on 16.02.2018 in respect of the same relief, as claimed in the present writ petition by the petitioners. While deciding the said writ petitions, this Court has granted interest @ 9% per annum on the delayed release of the pensionary benefits.

Counsel for the parties agree that the present writ petition can be disposed of in terms of the directions given by this Court in CWP No.17107 of 2015 and other connected cases.
