The petitioner, who has retired from service as Head Constable in Punjab Police, has approached this Court seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus so as to direct the official respondents to step-up her pay to bring the same at par with the pay of respondent No.4, who is stated to be junior to the petitioner.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of respondent - State and has submitted that the claim of petitioner shall be considered in accordance with rules and legal precedents.

Without commenting anything as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to consider the case of the petitioner as regards steppingup of her pay. Since the petitioner has already served a legal notice dated 1.7.2023 (Annexure P-8), the authorities concerned are directed to consider and decide the same in accordance with law keeping in view the earlier pronouncements of this Court expeditiously preferably within a period of 4 months from today.
