This petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been filed by the petitioner seeking issuance of direction to the official respondents to protect life and liberty of the petitioner from the hands of private respondent, who is threatening the petitioner to eliminate him and is harassing him in the old age of 73 years without any rhyme and reason, whenever the petitioner used to visit the market of Gurudwara Sahib, situated in Village Attargarh, District Barnala. Notice of motion.

Mr. Ferry Sofat, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, puts in appearance and accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. Accordingly, without commenting upon the merits of the claim of the petitioner and even the assertions set out in the petition, the present petition is disposed of only with a direction to respondent No.2 that if any such representations, as indicated above, is indeed pending consideration, it shall be dealt with expeditiously, in accordance with law by passing a speaking order, preferably within six weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order and conveying the same to the petitioner.
