The petitioners have approached this Court seeking quashing of FIR No.110 dated 9.6.2017 under Sections 323, 324, 506 and 498-A IPC, Police Station Division No.7, Jalandhar.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that the FIR is in fact an outcome of matrimonial incompatibility between petitioner No.1 and his wife i.e. complainant-Pooja Rana (respondent No.2). It has been submitted that on account of matrimonial incompatibility a divorce petition was filed by petitioner's wife which was decreed ex-parte vide judgment and decree dated 11.6.2019 (Annexure P-4). It has further been submitted that although a challan had been presented against the petitioners on 30.11.2017 and that GAURAV SOROT 2019.09.16 14:03 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

( 2 ) CRM-M-39157-2019 subsequently charges were also framed on 26.2.2018 but despite the fact that the matter had been adjourned for more than a dozen times thereafter, not even a single witness has been examined, although summons had been issued on several occasions for securing presence of the complainant also. 3.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioners, the petition is disposed of with a direction to the trial Court to ensure that the trial is concluded expeditiously preferably within a period of '6 months' from today.
