MADAAN Present:- Mr. Nitesh Singla, Advocate for the petitioner. *** Petitioners Rajinder Singh and 23 others, presently working as Head Constable/Sr. Head Constable serving IRB/PAP seeking stepping up of their pay at par with their junior respondent No. 5 Amandeep Singh as constable are said to have served a legal notice upon respondent No. 2 and others i.e. Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, Chandigarh dated 22.9.2021 (Annexure P-8) but that has not evoked any response, as such they have approached this Court by way of filing the present writ petition.

At the very outset, learned counsel for the petitioners has contended that petitioners would be satisfied if a direction is issued to respondent No. 2 and others to consider and dispose of the legal notice within a fixed time frame. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of directing respondent No. 2 and others to consider the representation of the petitioners in accordance with law, rules, regulations and instructions on the subject within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of the order and if some action in the matter is warranted then the needful be done in accordance with law.
