*** ANIL KSHETARPAL, J (Oral) This is the fourth attempt for the grant of bail, pending trial, in a criminal case arising from FIR No.85, dated 18.05.2018, registered under Section 22 of the NDPS Act, 1985, at Police Station Lambi, District Sri Muktsar Sahib.

Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the petitioner is in custody for the last 21⁄2 years. He submits that the trial of the case has not made any progress.

As per the case of the prosecution, the petitioner along with the co-accused was travelling in a car, with 11,800 intoxicating tablets containing prohibited substance.

Learned State counsel has informed the Court that the deposition of prosecution's witnesses is being recorded and the statement of one witness has already been recorded.

CRM-M-50829-2021 (O&M) of bail to the petitioner is made out.

Dismissed.

However, the trial Court is requested to make sincere endeavours for conclusion of the trial preferably within a period of six months positively from today. It shall be the responsibility of the Superintendent of Police, concerned to ensure the presence of prosecution witnesses on the date fixed. All the pending miscellaneous application(s), if any, are also disposed of.
