This is the petitioner's fifth attempt to get bail during the pendency of the trial in a criminal case arising from FIR No. 15 dated 06.12.2017, registered under Section 21 & 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (hereinafter referred to as "the 1985 Act") (the offence under Section 18 & 25 of the 1985 Act were added lateron), at Police Station S.T.F., Phase 4, Mohali. 2.
The petitioner is a previous convict under the 1985 Act. The petitioner's wife was also caught with 260 grams of heroin. The petitioner is alleged to be running a racket from the prison. There are three more criminal cases pending against the petitioner under the 1985 Act. 3.
Mr. Sandeep Chopra, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, on the instructions from Sub Inspector Puran Singh, has brought to the notice of DEEPAK KUMAR BHARDWAJ 2022.12.01 14:04 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document this Court that out of the 45 prosecution witnesses proposed to be examined,
Criminal Misc. No. M-47183 of 2022 the deposition of 40 has already been recorded by the Court. Thus, the trial of the case is at the fag end.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, the trial Court is directed to conclude the recording of the remaining prosecution witnesses within a period of three months, positively, from today. 5.
Mr. Sandeep Chopra, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, is directed to inform the trial Court about the directions to enable it to comply with the same.

With the observations made above, the present petition is disposed of.
