By way of this petition filed under Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, the petitioner seeks quashing of FIR No.19 dated 08.03.2021 under Sections 425, 323, 324, 34 of IPC, 1860 (Section 201 IPC, 1860 added later on) registered at Police Station Tibber, District Gurdaspur (Annexure P-1) alongwith all consequential proceedings arising therefrom on the basis of affidavit of the complainant in lieu of the compromise dated 17.07.2025 (Annexure P-2).

Mr. Gautam Thapar, Sr. DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Mr. Karanveer Singh, Advocate accepts notice on behalf of respondent No.2 by way of filing Power of Attorney and confirms the factum of the Sonia Puri 2025.07.25 18:32 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRM-M-39213-2025(O&M) -2compromise having been effected between the parties and states that respondent No.2 has no objection to the quashing of FIR in question. 5.

Learned State counsel has stated no objection in case the FIR is quashed based upon the compromise. He further states that the petitioner is not involved in any other case.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the material placed on record.

In view of the above, even if this case is taken to its logical conclusion, it would only be an exercise in futility as the parties have already settled their differences, therefore, no purpose would be served in wasting the time and resources of the State in pursuing this case to its pre-ordained end. It would, therefore, be better to give a quietus to the issue at this stage. 9.

Accordingly, the petition is allowed and FIR No.19 dated 08.03.2021 under Sections 425, 323, 324, 34 of IPC, 1860 (Section 201 IPC, 1860 added later on) registered at Police Station Tibber, District Gurdaspur (Annexure P-1) alongwith all consequential proceedings arising therefrom are quashed qua the petitioners subject to payment of costs of Rs.5,000/- to be paid to the High Court Legal Services Authority.

Needless to say that the parties shall remain bound by the terms of compromise.
