Prayer in this criminal writ petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of a writ in the nature of habeas corpus, directing the respondents to release the detenue namely Madan @ Ajay son of Ram Smajh from Burail Jail, Chandigarh.

The case has been called twice since morning and despite that there is no representation on behalf of the petitioner. The situation was not different even on the last date of hearing. It appears that neither the petitioner nor his counsel is interested in pursuing the present petition.
