SUVIR SEHGAL, J. (Oral) The petitioner is seeking regular bail in FIR No. 06 dated 21.01.2013 under Sections 15 and 25 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 registered at Police Station Kota Fatta District Bathinda.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner has no role in carrying of the contraband in the truck which subsequently is alleged to be owned by him and he has been in custody since 17.11.2018.

On instructions from ASI Gurjant Singh, learned State counsel has submitted that challan against the petitioner was presented on 05.02.2019 and the charges were framed on 20.08.2019. Out of total 05 prosecution witnesses, three witnesses have been examined. Heard.

CRM-M-40804 of 2019 {2} The petitioner has been behind bars for the last more than 13 months. The trial is likely to take some time to conclude. No useful purpose would be served by keeping the petitioner behind the bars any further. Without commenting anything on the merits of the case, the petition is allowed and the petitioner is ordered to be released on bail on his furnishing bail/surety bonds to the satisfaction of the trial Court/Duty Magistrate.
