IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB & HARYANA AT

CHANDIGARH CRM-M No. 42510 of 2024 (O&M) Date of Decision: 16.12.2024 Gurpreet Singh alias Gurpreet alias Gopi .....Petitioner versus State of Punjab .....Respondent CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE SHEEL NAGU, CHIEF JUSTICE Present :

Mr. Ravi Malhotra, Advocate, for the petitioner. Mr. Shekhar Verma, Addl. Advocate General, Punjab. **** SHEEL NAGU, CHIEF JUSTICE (Oral) Status report dated 06.12.2024 filed on behalf of State of Punjab is taken on record.

2.

The petitioner has filed this petition for grant of anticipatory bail in case FIR No. 166 dated 10.11.2020 under Section 25 of the Arms Act, 1959 registered at Police Station Maqsudan, District Jalandhar (Rural).

3.

Learned State counsel does not dispute that the petitioner has joined investigation in the crime in question. However, he fairly submits that in the affidavit filed by Surender Pal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kartarpur, reveals that petitioner had not joined the investigation. 4.

In view of the above, the State is at liberty to take appropriate steps against the concerned officer deposing wrong facts. 5.

Considering the fact that the petitioner has joined investigation, the order dated 31.08.2024 passed by this Court granting interim anticipatory bail to the petitioner stands confirmed on the terms and conditions mentioned in the order.

6.

With these observations, the petition stands disposed of. (SHEEL NAGU) CHIEF JUSTICE 16.12.2024 ravinder Whether speaking/reasoned √Yes/No Whether reportable Yes/No√ RAVINDER KUMAR 2024.12.17 19:48 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
