Pursuant to directions issued by this Court on 23.9.2019, an affidavit of Sh. Sarabjit Singh, PPS, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Litigation, Bureau of Investigation, Punjab, Chandigarh had been filed, wherein it has been deposed that upon examination of the matter a decision was taken to entrust investigation of the matter pertaining to FIR No.104 dated 8.9.2019 registered at Police Station Bhadson, District Patiala under Sections 302, 506 and 34 of Indian Penal Code and Section 3(1) of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 to a Special Investigation Team comprising of the following officers:

(i) Sh. Gurmeet Singh, PPS, Superintendent of Police (PBI), Sangrur Chariman (ii) Sh. Manjit Singh, PPS, DSP, Crime Against Property, Sangrur Member (iii) Inspector Satnam Singh, Incharge CIA, Sangrur Member PANKAJ KAKKAR 2020.01.22 16:44 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

The learned State counsel has today filed a fresh status report by way of affidavit of Sh. Gurmeet Singh, PPS, Superintendent of Police, Punjab, Burear of Investigation, Major Crime and Narcotics, Sangrur, which is taken on record, wherein it has been deposed that upon conducting through investigation, the Special Investigation Team has presented the challan against accused Sarminder Singh @ Sharry. It is also stated therein that that the knife used in the commission of offence has also been taken into possession.

The learned State counsel has submitted that charges have also been framed against the accused on 4.1.2020 and the matter is now fixed before the Trial Court for recording of prosecution evidence for today. 4.

In view of the aforestated position, no further directions are required to be issued as far as the investigation of the matter is concerned. The Trial Court is, however, directed to take necessary steps so as to expedite disposal of the trial.

Since, the learned counsel for the petitioner has expressed the apprehension and has stated that the petitioner is being pressurized to effect a compromise, Senior Superintendent of Police concerned is directed to ensure that the complainant is produced before Trial Court when the matter is fixed for recording his statement so that his statement is got recorded at the earliest and that he is not pressurized in any manner by the accused or by any other person.
