Prayer in the present revision petition is for disposal of the suit bearing CIS No.CS/646/2022 titled 'Sanjeev Puri vs. Nalin Choudhary and Others' expeditiously as well as for directions to the respondents to pay a sum of Rs.1,00,000/-.

At the outset learned counsel for the petitioner states that there is no provision of law under which payment of Rs.1,00,000/- has been sought and hence he does not wish to press the said prayer. Learned counsel for the petitioner would further contend that he is only pressing for the expeditious disposal of the civil suit.

A perusal of the e-Court website of District Courts, Patiala reveals that the petitioner has himself sought adjournments for addressing arguments on the application filed under Order VII Rule 11 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 and the suit stood adjourned for that purpose 15 times. Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case titled as High Court Bar Association, Allahabad Vs. State of U.P. & Ors. [2024 (2) RCR (Civil) 199] has held in para No.37(c) as under :

"37(c) Constitutional Courts, in the ordinary course, should refrain from fixing a time-bound schedule for the disposal of cases pending before any other Courts. Constitutional Courts may issue directions for the timebound disposal of cases only in exceptional circumstances. The issue of prioritizing the disposal of cases should be best left to the decision of the concerned Courts where the cases are pending."

No exceptional circumstances have been shown to this Court for issuance of directions to the Trial Court for expeditious disposal of the civil suit. The present revision petition is accordingly dismissed. Pending applications, if any, also stand disposed off.
