JASGURPREET SINGH PURI , J. (ORAL ) The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of directions to respondent No.2 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner and his family at the hands of respondent No.3.

After arguing for some time, learned counsel for the petitioner has confined his prayer to the extent of protection of life of the petitioner who is a lady aged 44 years. He submitted that it is a case where the son of the petitioner was falsely implicated by the police and therefore, the police is harassing the petitioner. CRWP-11708-2021 (O&M) concerned, she is not involved in any case and therefore, she may be protected especially in view of the fact that she is a lady and cannot be harassed on the pretext that her son is allegedly involved in some case. Notice of motion.

Mr.Randhir Singh Thind, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of all the respondents and fairly states that he has no objection in case appropriate directions are issued for the purpose of protection of life of the petitioner in view of the fact that she is being harassed by the police despite being not involved in any case.

I have heard the learned counsel for the parties. The scope of the present petition is confined only for the protection of life of the petitioner in view of the fact that she is not involved in any case and therefore, cannot be harassed only on the ground that her son is involved in some case.

In view of above, this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 - SSP Amritsar Rural, to ensure that the petitioner who is a lady aged 44 years, is not unnecessarily harassed by the police. However, it is made clear that in case the petitioner is also found involved in any case and appropriate action is required to be taken in accordance with law, the present direction would not operate as an embargo for the police to proceed against the petitioner in accordance with law, if so required.
