NAMIT KUMAR, J. (ORAL) This petition has been filed by the petitioner under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking directions to the respondents to release the petitioner on three weeks furlough.

It has been stated that the petitioner is eligible for grant of furlough as per Sections 2(1)(f) and 4 of the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 2022 (for short 'the Act') to enable the petitioner to meet his family members and to do necessary works, as there is no able-person in the family except his old mother aged about 70 years and the wife of the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that his application dated 10.03.2022 (Annexure P-1) for releasing the petitioner on three weeks furlough is pending since March, 2022 and as per Section 11 of the Act the process of deciding the application for a regular parole or furlough is to be completed by different authorities expeditiously and the maximum time of 49 days has been prescribed.

Without commenting upon the merits of the case, this petition is being disposed of with direction to respondents No.2 and 3 i.e. Commissioner Rohtak Division, Rohtak, and District Magistrate, Mehendergarh, respectively, to finalise the application of the petitioner dated 10.03.2022 (Annexure P-1) for release of the petitioner for three weeks furlough, within four weeks from today.
