This petition has been filed under Section 482 of the Cr.P.C. for quashing of FIR No. 159 dated 11.06.2017, registered under Section 3(1) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 at Police Station City Kapurthala, District Kapurthala.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that respondent No. 2 has already been acquitted by the learned trial Court; however, a criminal appeal bearing No. CRM-A-867-MA of 2017 is pending. He further submits that the complainant lodged the present FIR only to exert pressure upon the petitioner to settle scores in relation to the litigation pending between the parties.

Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case, the learned trial Court is directed to decide the appeal expeditiously, preferably within a period of three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. Thereafter, the proceedings in the FIR may continue in accordance with law.
