  !"#$  %# &  # ******* KARAMJIT SINGH, J.(Oral) Counsel for the petitioners submits that the present petition has been filed by run-away couple who performed marriage against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 6, who are extending threats to cause harm to the petitioners and in this regard, representation dated 03.09.2024 (Annexure P-5) is already submitted by the petitioners to respondent No.2 i.e. Superintendent of Police, Moga.

Mr. Jasjeet Singh Dhaliwal, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 and on instructions from ASI Manish Kumar submits that respondent No.6 made statement in writing before the police pleading no objection to the marriage of the present petitioners. 4.

Faced with this situation, counsel for the petitioners submits that however no such statements of respondents No.4 and 5 was got Priyanka Thakur 2024.09.12 18:37 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

 

' recorded and the petitioners are still apprehending threats of their life and liberty from the hands of private respondents. 5.

At this stage, learned State counsel submits that in case any such representation submitted by the petitioners is pending, the same will be looked into and decided by the competent authority as per law. 6.

In view of above, without going into the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to Superintendent of Police, Moga to consider representation dated 03.09.2024 (Annexure P-5) and to take action if so warranted in accordance with law. 7.

However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners. In case the petitioners have committed any offence, law will take its own course.
