***** KARAMJIT SINGH , J. (Oral) Petitioners allege that both of them are major and they got married on 16.11.2021 against the wishes of respondent Nos.4 & 5 who are related to petitioner No.2. This is the first marriage of petitioner No.1, however petitioner No.2 was divorcee and copy of decree of divorce is Annexure P-3.

Counsel for the petitioners submits/submitted that the aforesaid private respondents have threatened to cause harm to both the petitioners and in this regard, representation (Annexure P-5) was given on 18.12.2021 to respondent No.2 but till date no action has been taken by the concerned authority in this regard.

Mr. H.S. Multani, AAG, accepts notice on behalf of the State of Punjab. He submits that the concerned authority will look into the matter and take decision on the representation of the petitioners in accordance with law. In view of above, without going into merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to consider representation dated 18.12.2021 (Annexure P-5) and to provide appropriate protection to the petitioners if so warranted. However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners.
