Vide order dated 01.08.2019, learned Additional Sessions Judge, Bathinda while disposing of the appeal filed by the petitioners, modified the sentence awarded to them and ordered to release them on probation of good conduct for a period of six months, subject to their furnishing personal bond in the sum of `10,000/- with one surety in the like amount, within a period of 15 days. Personal bonds and surety bonds were not furnished and the petitioners moved application on 17.09.2019 seeking extension of time to furnish bonds, which was declined. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioners being poor persons, could not arrange for the surety to furnish the surety bonds.

There is lapse on the part of petitioners as they did not furnish the personal bonds and surety bonds as per judgment dated 01.08.2019 and moved application seeking extension of time to furnish personal and surety bonds on 17.09.2019 i.e. after a delay of more than one month thereafter. For the lapse on their part, they are burdened with costs of `5,000/-, which will be deposited with District Legal Services Authority, Bathinda, within two weeks. On deposit of costs, petitioners be allowed to furnish personal bonds and surety bonds as per judgment dated 01.08.2019 passed by learned Additional Sessions Judge, Bathinda within a period of 10 days thereafter. In the event of default, they will not be provided any further extension.

Disposed of accordingly.
