Two-fold prayer has been made in the instant writ petition. Petitioner has firstly sought issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents to re-issue/renew the passport bearing No.L9391785, which was issued on 23.05.2014.

Counsel for the petitioner submits that the renewal of the passport was kept pending, as the Police Verification Report was not clear. 3.

Counsel for respondents No.1 and 3, upon verbal instructions as well as e-mail received on 14.10.2024, from the Regional Passport Officer - respondent No.3, submits that the application has been processed and the renewed passport will be issued to the petitioner in due course. In view of above, the first prayer has become infructuous. 5.

Second prayer made in the writ petition is for direction to respondents No.4 and 5, to issue Police Clearance Certificate to the petitioner, as after investigating FIR No.173, dated 06.11.2018, lodged by the petitioner's mother-in-law under Sections 406, 498-A, 354, 323, IPC, at Police Station Sadar Sri Mukatsar Sahib, District Sri Mukatsar Sahib, Annexure P-3, a cancellation report has been presented.

State counsel does not have any instructions. 7.

In so far as the second prayer is concerned, liberty is granted to the petitioner to file an appropriate petition, if so advised, in accordance with law. 8.
