(ORAL) The petitioners have filed the present writ petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a direction to the official respondents No.2 and 3 to protect their life and liberty from the hands of private respondent No.4.

The petitioners are stated to be major and have solemnized marriage on 02.10.2019 against the wishes of their parents. Factum of marriage has been pleaded with reference to Marriage Certificate and photographs (Annexures P-3 and P-4). The petitioners have an apprehension at the hands of private respondent No.4 and in this regard, they have submitted a representation dated 02.10.2019 (Annexure P-5) to respondent No.2- Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar (Rural), but no action has been taken so far.

The present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar (Rural) to look into the representation of the petitioners dated 02.10.2019 (Annexure P-5) and decide the same and if required, provide adequate security for the protection to the life and liberty of the petitioners.
