This petition has been filed as a Public Interest Litigation by a practicing lawyer of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association raising grievance of non-availability of on-line portal for processing of verification of credentials of the Advocates already enrolled. 2.

It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that the official website of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana provides for online submission of requisite fee for registration but the remaining process that includes submission of hard copies for verification of documents and filing further documents is to be undertaken physically. 3.

It is further submitted that a representation to this effect has already been made by the petitioner on 26.08.2024 vide Annexure P-4 to the Chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh but the same has not been decided so far.

This Court expects that with rapidly changing times, the Bar Council shall also change for the better by adopting digital techniques. The Punjab and Haryana Bar Council shall consider the aforesaid representation made by the petitioner, keeping in view the aspirations of the members of the Bar.

Accordingly, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana to consider the representation (Annexure P-4) made by the petitioner as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of one month, by passing a speaking order and communicating the decision to petitioner within the same period.
