(ORAL) Due to a call given by the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, the Executive Committee of the Bar Association has unanimously decided to not to work today i.e., on 26.09.2023 in solidarity with the District Bar Association, Sri Muktsar Sahib on account of one of the Bar member who is alleged to have been falsely implicated by the police officials at Muktsar. 2.
Perused contents of the petition along with Annexures thereof. 3.
Pleaded case is that both petitioners are major and it is their first marriage. Both are adults, husband 24-year old and wife 21-year old and thus, fully capable and legally competent to take decision to choose their respective life partners. In the premise, petition is disposed of with a direction to respondents No.2 and 3 i.e., Senior Superintendent of Police, District Sangrur and Station House Officer, Police Station, City-I, District Sangrur, respectively that the contents of the representation dated 20.09.2023 (Annexure P-4) seeking protection of life and liberty be duly verified. If warranted, requisite steps be taken, in accordance with law for grant of protection of life and liberty to the petitioners. It is clarified that this order shall neither be treated as a stamp of this Court qua marriage of the petitioners nor any reflection on the merits of the contentions raised by them in the present petition. 4.
Present petition stands disposed of.
