The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of direction to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner would be satisfied if a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to decide his representation dated 19.08.2023, Annexure P-2 submitted by him. The receipt of the said representation is annexed with this petition. 3.

Notice of motion.

Ms. Himani Arora, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and has no objection to the limited prayer made by the learned counsel for the petitioner.

In view of the limited prayer made by the petitioner and without commenting upon the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to look into the representation of the petitioner dated 19.08.2023, Annexure P-2 and decide the same expeditiously, in accordance with law.

It is however, made clear that this order shall not preclude the authorities to proceed against the petitioner, in case, he is found involved in any other criminal proceedings, instituted/pending against him, if there is some evidence that surfaces regarding him involvement in a cognizable offence, for which he may be required by the investigating agency.
