Petitioners seek protection of their life and liberty as they apprehend danger at the hands of respondents No. 4 to 8 and other relatives because they have solemnised marriage on 24.12.2021 against the wishes of said respondents.
Learned counsel for the petitioners identifies the petitioners on the basis of documents attached. It is contended that the petitioners are major, their dates of birth being 29.01.1995 and 21.02.1993, respectively. Aadhar cards of both the petitioners are appended with the petition as Annexures P1 and P2, respectively. Marriage certificate is on record as Annexure P-3. It is submitted that there is no impediment to the marriage of the petitioners. Representation dated 25.12.2021 (Annexure P4), it is submitted, was sent through e-mail to Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural), Jalandhar, for redressal of their grievance but no action has been taken thereon. Without commenting upon the age of the petitioners or validity of their marriage or validity and genuineness of the certificates/documents appended with the petition, Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural), Jalandhar is directed to look into representation dated 25.12.2021 submitted by the petitioners and take appropriate action if any/as may be required, keeping in view the threat perception to the petitioners. Petition is disposed of accordingly.
