PANKAJ JAIN, J. (ORAL) This Criminal Writ Petition has been filed seeking protection of life liberty of the petitioners, who claimed to have married each other against the wishes of respondents 4 to 8.

On 31st December, 2021, this Court passed the following order :- "It is submitted that the petitioners apprehend danger to their life and liberty as they have solemnized marriage out of their own freewill and volition against the wishes of respondents no. 4 to 8. It is submitted that petitioners are major and there is no impediment to their marriage.

Notice of motion.

Mr. Ramandeep Sandhu, Sr. DAG., Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents no.1 to 3.

At this stage, Mr. Ramandeep, Advocate, appears on

-2behalf of respondent no.6. Power of attorney filed on behalf of respondent no.6 in Court today is taken on record subject to just exceptions.

Learned counsel for respondent no.6 submits that there is no question of any threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of the said respondent or respondents no.4, 5, 7 and 8. However, the said respondents are concerned about the well being of petitioner no.1 and would like to meet her.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that there is no difficulty regarding the same.

Let the matter be placed before the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court.

Parties are directed to appear before the Mediator on 07.01.2022.

List on 17.02.2022 to await the report of the Mediator.

In the meanwhile, respondent no.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, to look into representation dated 28.12.2021, Annexure P-7 and take necessary steps, if any, as may be required." 3.

After the matter was sent for mediation, a report has been received from the Mediation Centre and Conciliation Centre of this Court whereby the parties have amicably settled their dispute by way of written settlement/agreement dated 19th January, 2022. 4.

In view of the settlement, learned counsel for the petitioners states that the fear of the petitioners stands allayed and the present petition has been rendered infructuous.

In the circumstances, the present petition stands disposed off as having been rendered infructuous.
