 The present second petition has been filed under Section 439 Cr.P.C. for the grant of regular bail to the petitioner in case FIR No.198, dated 14.04.2021, under Section 346 IPC (offence under Sections 342, 363, 366, 376(2)(n), 506 and 120-B of IPC and Section 6/17 of POCSO Act added later on), registered at Police Station Gharaunda, District Karnal.

Status report dated 20.12.2023 by way of an affidavit of Suresh Kumar, HPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gharaunda, Karnal on behalf of the respondent-State has been filed by learned State counsel today in the Court and the same is taken on record. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is behind bars since the date of his arrest i.e. 19.04.2021. However learned State counsel, on instructions from ASI Jagdish, has submitted that out of 14 prosecution witnesses, 10 have RITTU 2023.12.21 18:18 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

On hearing learned counsel for the State, it is apparent that the trial virtually at the fag end and thus, this Court would refrain itself from commenting anything upon the merits of the case. Keeping in view the custody of the present petitioner, the trial Court is directed to conclude the trial expeditiously preferably within a period of five months from today.

Petition stands disposed of.
