The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of direction to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondent Nos.4 & 5. 2.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that he does not want to press the petition qua petitioner No.1, however, he submits that petitioner Nos.2 & 3 would be satisfied if a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to decide their representation dated 14.08.2023, Annexure P-3 submitted by them. The receipt of the said representation is annexed with this petition. 3.

In view of the above, the present petition qua petitioner No.1 stands dismissed as not pressed.

Ms. Himani Arora, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and has no objection to the limited prayer made by the learned counsel for the petitioners.

It is however, made clear that this order shall not preclude the authorities to proceed against the petitioner Nos.2 & 3, in case, they are found involved in any other criminal proceedings, instituted/pending against them if there is some evidence that surfaces regarding his involvement in a cognizable offence, for which they may be required by the investigating agency.
