This is a petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to initiate and consider the premature release case of the petitioner as the petitioner has undergone more sentence that is required for consideration of his premature release case.

At the outset, counsel for the petitioner submits that, at this stage, the petitioner would be satisfied if the respondents take a conscious decision on the legal notice of the petitioner dated 07.08.2023 (Annexures P2) and pass a speaking order thereon, within a time bound frame. 3.
