The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking setting aside of orders dated 29.09.2023 (Annexure P-16), 16.01.2024 (Annexure P-18) and 13.05.2024 (Annexure P-21) whereby respondent has imposed major punishment of forfeiture of 5 years' approved service with permanent effect.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that respondent has ordered to permanently forfeit five years' service of petitioner for purpose of salary and promotion. 3.

Mr. Dhir submits that respondent has not forfeited 5 years' service of the petitioner whereas increments of 5 years have been forfeited, thus, there is no violation of Rule 16.5 of Punjab Police Rules, 1934.

In the wake of statement of Mr. Dhir, the grievance of the petitioner stands redressed. The question of quantum of punishment cannot be examined by this Court while exercising writ jurisdiction especially when the petitioner has failed to point out any jurisdictional error or manifest infirmity warranting interference. 5.

Disposed of in above terms.
