The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of Constitution of India is seeking directions to the respondents to re-issue him passport.

The petitioner was issued passport on 21.10.2013 which was valid upto 20.10.2023. The petitioner has filed an application dated 15.07.2023 seeking re-issuance of passport. Two FIRs have been registered against the petitioner. The police after completing investigation has presented its report in FIR No.123 dated 07.12.2021, registered under Sections 406, 498-A of IPC, at Police Station Joga, District Mansa. The matter is under investigation with respect to FIR No.23 dated 06.05.2023, registered under Sections 341, 323, 506, 148 of IPC, at Police Station Ajitwal, District Moga.

Learned counsel for the petitioner, at the outset, submits that passport may be issued to the petitioner and he has no objection if passport authority directly deposits his passport with the trial Court. 4.

Learned State counsel confirms the aforesaid factual position with respect to pending FIRs.

Faced with the aforesaid statements, learned counsel for respondents No.1 and 2 submits that passport authority would process application of the petitioner within 04 weeks. 6.

In the wake of statement of learned counsels for the parties, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to passport authority to issue passport subject to compliance of provisions of the Act by the petitioner and directly deposit with the trial Court.
